Welcome to A Haven for Us.
These Terms of Use govern your use of the A Haven for Us website, located at ahavenforus.org, and other online resources and services that link to these Terms. By accessing or using our website or online services, you acknowledge these Terms. Certain A Haven for Us programs, applications, events, or services may also have separate guidelines, eligibility requirements, participation agreements, community standards, or other terms. Those program-specific requirements apply in addition to these Terms. If a program-specific requirement conflicts with these Terms regarding that particular program, the program-specific requirement will control.
1. About A Haven for Us
A Haven for Us is a nonprofit organization that provides programs and resources supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals, including virtual peer support, resource navigation assistance, community outreach and educational activities, and direct financial assistance programs.
Information provided through our website and programs is intended to support our charitable mission and is not a substitute for individualized professional advice where such advice is appropriate.
2. Permitted Use of Our Website and Services
You may use our website and online services only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms.
You agree not to:

Our collection, use, disclosure, and protection of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
Certain health-related information may be subject to additional state-specific privacy protections. Where applicable, additional notices are available through our website, including our Washington Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy and Nevada Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
Our Privacy Policy and state-specific privacy notices are separate from these Terms of Use and should be reviewed for information regarding our privacy practices and applicable privacy rights.
4. Virtual Peer Support
A Haven for Us offers peer-led support groups and other community-based programs intended to foster connection, reduce isolation, provide mutual support, and create opportunities for participants to connect through shared or related lived experiences.
Peer support is not psychotherapy, counseling, medical treatment, crisis intervention, or another form of licensed healthcare. Peer facilitators, volunteers, and other participants should not be understood to be acting as physicians, therapists, attorneys, or other licensed professionals merely because of their participation in an A Haven for Us program.
Participation in peer support does not create a provider-patient, therapist-client, attorney-client, or similar professional relationship with A Haven for Us or its peer facilitators.
Participants should seek appropriate professional services when their circumstances require medical, mental health, legal, financial, or other professional advice or treatment.
Confidentiality in Peer Support Groups
A Haven for Us may establish confidentiality expectations or community agreements for peer support groups and may require participants to respect the privacy of others.
However, peer support groups involve interaction among independent participants. A Haven for Us cannot guarantee that another participant will maintain the confidentiality of information voluntarily shared during a group.
Participants should consider their own privacy and comfort when deciding what personal information to disclose.
Additional group-specific community guidelines or participation expectations may apply.
5. Crisis and Emergency Situations
A Haven for Us is not an emergency or crisis-response service, and our website, email, resource navigation, peer support groups, and other programs should not be used as a substitute for emergency assistance.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger or requires immediate medical assistance, call 911 or the appropriate emergency service.
In the United States and its territories, individuals experiencing emotional distress or a mental health or suicide-related crisis may call or text 988 or use the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline's online chat. The 988 Lifeline is available 24 hours a day.
6. Resource Navigation
A Haven for Us may provide information about community resources, organizations, healthcare providers, public programs, financial assistance, legal resources, or other services.
Resource navigation is provided for informational and supportive purposes. Unless expressly stated otherwise, A Haven for Us does not operate, control, supervise, or guarantee services provided by third-party organizations.
Information about a resource may change without notice, including its availability, eligibility criteria, cost, hours, services, or policies. We make reasonable efforts to provide useful information but cannot guarantee that every resource is current, available, appropriate, or suitable for a particular person's circumstances.
Providing information about or a referral to an outside organization does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee of that organization or its services.
Resource navigation does not constitute medical, mental health, legal, financial, benefits, immigration, or other professional advice.
7. Community Microgrant Program
Participation in the A Haven for Us Community Microgrant Program is governed by the Community Microgrant Program Guidelines, the applicable application materials, and any award documentation provided to recipients.
Submitting an application does not guarantee eligibility or funding. Awards are subject to applicable eligibility requirements, available funding, program priorities, and the review and selection process described in the Program Guidelines.
A Haven for Us may request clarification, supporting information, or reasonable verification of information provided in connection with an application where permitted by the Program Guidelines.
Nothing on our website, in an application, or in other program materials creates a contractual right or entitlement to receive a Community Microgrant except to the extent expressly stated in written award documentation issued by A Haven for Us.
Applicants and recipients are responsible for reviewing the current Program Guidelines before participating in the program.
Financial, Tax, and Public Benefits Disclaimer
A Haven for Us does not provide tax, legal, financial, or public-benefits advice.
Recipients are responsible for determining whether receiving financial assistance may affect taxes, government benefits, public assistance, or other financial circumstances and should consult an appropriate qualified professional when necessary.
8. Applications, Forms, and Information You Submit
You are responsible for information you knowingly submit through our website, applications, registrations, or other forms and should provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge where accuracy is required for the applicable program.
Please do not submit information that you do not have the right or authority to provide.
You retain any ownership rights you may have in materials you submit to A Haven for Us.
By submitting information or materials to us, you authorize A Haven for Us and our authorized service providers to receive, store, process, review, and use those materials only as reasonably necessary to provide or administer the program or service you requested, fulfill another purpose disclosed to you, comply with applicable law, or as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy.
Submitting an application, personal narrative, photograph, or other material to participate in a program does not grant A Haven for Us permission to publicly use that material for marketing, fundraising, promotional, or storytelling purposes unless you separately provide permission for that use.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, information provided through the A Haven for Us website or programs is general informational or peer-based information and does not constitute individualized:

Third-party fundraising or payment platforms may have additional terms that apply to transactions processed through their services.
11. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the A Haven for Us website and original materials created by A Haven for Us, including text, graphics, logos, designs, publications, and other content, are owned by A Haven for Us or used with permission.
You may access, view, download, or print website materials for your own lawful, personal, and noncommercial informational use unless otherwise indicated.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, sell, commercially exploit, or represent A Haven for Us materials as your own without permission, except where such use is otherwise permitted by applicable law.
