Welcome to A Haven for Us: Our Story & Vision

At A Haven for Us, everything we do starts with a simple but powerful belief: that LGBTQIA+ people deserve safety, connection, and belonging.

Why We Started:

This organization was born out of personal lived experiences, community need, and a deep sense of urgency. Too many queer people face isolation, discrimination, and systemic barriers to care, especially with the current changing landscape regarding queer rights. We wanted to build something for our community that everyone nationwide can access — something grounded in solidarity and hope, and that grows by helping one another. We all deserve a place where people can show up exactly as they are, and be met with open arms.

What We Believe:

We believe in the power of community. We believe that peer support saves lives. We believe that everyone deserves access to care, housing, and basic needs — no matter their identity, location, or circumstances.

We believe everyone deserves a safe space. A space to turn to when you need to know you’re not alone. A community to find those who understand what you are going through. A position to support others who may be in a place you used to be. We are not a crisis center or clinical provider, but we are a haven. A haven for all of us.

What We’re Building:

A Haven for Us offers:

• Free, online, peer-led support groups where people can share, heal, and build community.

• Microgrants for urgent needs like gender-affirming care, relocation, and basic living support.

• Educational resources for both LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies seeking to learn and grow.

This is just the beginning. Our dream is to grow into a trusted, accessible resource for queer people everywhere.

What Makes Us Different:

We are entirely peer-led and community-driven. Our model is intentionally low-barrier, non-clinical, and built with trust and safety at the center. We will always meet people where they are in their journey.
